Take Me ThereThe College of Communication and Information Sciences welcomes students who transfer from another institution to our university. For students who attend Alabama state junior colleges, four-year colleges or universities, the STARS system facilitates the process of moving from that institution to this one.
What We Do
For students who have attended other universities in or outside Alabama, we make every effort to evaluate your coursework as fairly as possible.
Two steps are recommended for transfer students:
- 1. Please have transcripts sent to the University of Alabama as promptly as possible.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487-0134- 2. After being admitted, transfer students should register for one of the new student orientation sessions. At that time, they will meet with advisors who will discuss degree requirements, and they will plan and register for the first semester at UA. Transfer evaluations will be viewable via MyBama on the UA academic transcript.
Taking Courses Elsewhere
We also understand that students enrolled in the College of Communication and Information Sciences may elect to take courses elsewhere during their careers. In order to make sure that the course will transfer back to UA and also to speed admission to the other institution, a letter of good standing may be required by the other institution.
